Where is Gankoyama?
Gankoyama is located in the south of Chiba prefecture on the South Boso Penisular. (i.e. Minami Boso-shi)
What kind of renewable energy does Gankoyama use?
Gankoyama believes that "the forest can provide 100% natural energy." We prove this by being environmetally friendly and filling our need for electricity by using only the natural energy produced by solar and wind power.
How do I pay?
ONLY cash is accepted. You can NOT use a credit card at Gankoyama.
Can I smoke at Gankoyama?
Yes, you can but only in the designated smoking area. Smoking in all other areas, including the treehouses, is not permitted.
Do I need to bring a sleeping bag?
Yes, you can bring your own sleeping bag. If you do not have your own sleeping bag you can borrow one from us.
I don't have a car. Can I use public transport to get to Gankoyama?
Yes, you can catch a highway bus or JR train to get here. We pick you up at the Highway Oasis Furari bus stop or Iwai train station (JR Line). (click here for more details)
Does Gankoyama cater for school or company groups? How many people can you accommodate/cater for at Gankoyama?
Yes we do cater for big groups. Up to 100 people can come for a day trip and up to 60 people can stay overnight in our tree houses. Tours can be customized to suit your group's requests (e.g the no. of people/the length of stay) so please contact us if you have any question about your trip.
Do I need to bring my own food?
You only need to bring lunch on the first day. Dinner and two meals on the following day will be provided.
Do you offer a discount for big groups?
We have a discount rate for groups of more than 20 people. Please let us know how many people intend on coming when you make your booking.
I have made an enquiry/booking but I have not received a response from Gankoyama yet. What should I do?
We try to respond to our customers' e-mails as quickly as we can. Customers are also automatically sent an notification e-mail whenever they make a booking/enquiry with us. If you have not received that kind of e-mail yet, we suggest you check your junk mail folder. If it is not in that folder, there was probably an error or some other problem with your e-mail address so you will need to make a new booking/enquiry.
Can I join a tour by myself?
Quite a few of our visitors come by themselves, so plese feel free to come alone.
N.B. Individuals can not take part in the family tours.
What should I wear at Gankoyama?
We recommend you bring long pants and long sleeved shirts because there might be mosquitoes during summer. Sneakers or work boots are good footwear for Gankoyama. We also recommend you bring one complete extra change of clothes in addition to what you plan on bringing, especially in the rainy season and in summer. Some people may get a bit muddy/dirty whilst taking part in the activities, especially kids. Your clothes may also get a bit smoky from being around the camp fire.
